The 2019 Melbourne Cup Calcutta is on again at Mont Albert. The night, as always, will be run Pete Guley and Wayne Hawkins, with Nick Adgemis taking up the ‘opportunity’ to again be auctioneer for the horses. Tickets are $20pp incl. bbq dinner and 1 x raffle ticket, details and rules are as follows…

RULES:
• This is a cash-only event.
• Entrants purchase tickets for the chance of being allocated a horse.
• A draw will be made to allocate horses to ticket buyers until all horses are exhausted. Horses will be drawn in saddlecloth order.
• If successful in drawing a horse, you MUST place this horse up for auction.
• You will receive 50% of the highest bid for your horse and the highest bidder becomes the new “owner”. The other 50% remains in the prize pool.
• You may bid for your own horse. If successful, 50% of the amount paid will enter the prize pool while the other 50% is returned to you.
• Horses will be auctioned in reverse market order – i.e. roughies first, favourites last.
• Successful bidders at auction gain “ownership” of the horse and are entitled to a share of the prize pool.
• Scratchings which occur after the Calcutta will result in:
o Owner of the scratched horse to be refunded 50% of the purchase price.
o Deductions to be made to all prizes reflecting this refund.

Prize Pool made up of:
• 100% of proceeds from initial ticket sales.
• 50% of all auction bids.

Prizes:
• 1st – 60% of prize pool.
• 2nd – 25% of prize pool.
• 3rd – 15% of prize pool.

Prizes can be claimed from Mont Albert Cricket Club
