and off the field, the boys continue to represent MACC with aplomb. A few of the boys recently met up at the world cup to see Australia smack the poms, and a few UK born and Aussie born MACC heroes joined each other for a night out in Harrogate to celebrate the start of the UK summer.

Chris Jackson

Chris has continued to show his strengths as a bowler for Burton Leonard CC in the Nidderdale League in Yorkshire. Chris has now taken 19 wickets at 14.74 from 78 overs in a commanding opening bowling display. This includes his most recent 5/58 in their strong win against Pateley Bridge CC. Despite a promising high score of 31, Chris has struggled to climb the strong batting order this season, leaving his prodigious batting talent wasted. Nevertheless, the team now sits third on the league table, within striking distance of first placed Darley CC.

James Blair-Holt

Just around the corner from Jacko, JBH has been pretending he’s in South East Asia by adopting a rather nifty looking moped as his primary mode of transport. Otherwise, James’s cricket has been steadily improving, with the hard hitting left hander smashing a whopping 5 sixes in an over on his way to his highest score for the season (44 off 12 balls). Unfortunately, in chasing the final six, James holed out, but it sure turned some heads and helped pave the way for Beckwithshaw’s maiden win of the year. James has made 182 runs at a bit over 20 runs per innings. He’s also bowled (hugely underrated as a bowler in my opinion) two overs (under bowled), and taken 1/13. Not too shabby from the bear. I hope he gets more opportunities to strut his stuff with the ball (Pete Hotchkiss, I’m looking at you here!). Beckwithshaw are having a tough season with just one win on the board in Division 2, but hopefully this turns around in the back half of the year.

James Guley

James, playing for Ashley CC in the Chesire league, has continued to build on his batting form. He has scored 212

runs at 30.57 with a highest score of 63*. Despite being under bowled, James has continued to take wickets, going at 14 runs per wicket with 12 wickets to his name. He has reported getting some stick at times, but I’m sure that’s part and parcel with bowling leg spin. With 2/11 from 4 overs in his most recent outing, he’s sure to be demanding a few more overs in weeks to come. Ashley currently sit three games clear on top of the league.

Josh Brown

Lastly, we have our former hero, Josh, playing in North Yorkshire for Marton CC. After a very brief foray as captain (purely in a digital sense I was sadly informed), Josh has taken a further 5 wickets to bring his season tally to 9 overall at a bit over 20 per wicket with best bowling on 2/22. Similar to Jacko, his batting has not received the respect it deserves, with him languishing in the bottom order with limited opportunities to bat time and build an innings. Nevertheless, the team is flying at the top of the table.
