2023 Junior Representative Wrap

In January 2023 we had an amazing 7 junior’s play representative cricket in varying competitions.

This is a terrific result for the Club and we should all be proud of their achievements. Please see below for how the 7 individuals performed.

Under 16

We had three players represent the ECA in the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union in the Keith Mackay Shield.

The team won 3 games and just missed the finals on percentage.

Henry Roga

Henry made 115 runs @19.17 with a highest score of 42.

  • Henry made the 3rd highest run tally for his ECA team.
  • Henry also took 2 catches

Flynn Woolhouse

Flynn made 41 runs @ 8.20 with a swashbuckling 30 the major highlight

  • Flynn also took 1 catch

Rahal (Yashen) Balasuriya

Rahal only got to bat once and made 5 not out, however Rahal took 5 wickets for the carnival @18.00 with a best effort of 2/17.

  • Rahall also took 2 catches

Under 15 Craig Shield

James Webb

Represented Kew cricket Club in the VSDCA

James played in 8 games as a bowler and took 9 wickets @11.11 with best figures of 3/14

James hasn’t had many chances with the bat and has made 13 runs

James’ team made it through to the semi-final, but unfortunately were defeated. James played a pivotal role in the finals taking 4 wickets across two matches and averaging 7.

Under 14

We had three players represent the ECA in the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union in the Russell Allen Shield.

The team won all their 5 preliminary games, sadly they lost the semi-final to SECA

Sam Hawkins

Sam was voted player of the carnival (out of 144 participants) in the strong Russell Allen Shield.

Sam statistics for the carnival were as follows:

Batting – 229 runs @76.33 with a highest score of 61 not out

Bowling – 4 wickets @22.00

Fielding – 6 catches and 1 direct hit run out

Sam was rated the number player on championship points for the carnival

Sam also made the most runs for ECA and for all teams in the competition

Jack Massey

Jack’s statistics for the carnival are as follows:

Batting – 154 runs @38.50 with a highest score of 65 not out

Bowling – 9 wickets @17.44 (most wickets for the ECA)

Fielding – 1 catch and 3 run outs, 2 direct hits

Jack was rated the 3rd in championship points for the carnival

Jack made the 2nd most runs for ECA (8th overall) for the carnival

Jack took the most wickets for ECA for carnival (8th overall) for the carnival

Charlie Hester

Charlie’s statistics for the carnival are as follows:

Batting – 146 runs @29.20 with a highest score of 61 not out

Wicket Keeping – 3 catches, 5 Stumping’s & 3 run outs

Charlie was rated the 6th in championship points for the carnival

Charlie made the 3rd most runs for ECA (10th overall) for the carnival

We had 3 boys in the top 6 players out of 144 boys, an amazing achievement.
