Three New Faces Join MACC Committee: We Thank Those Stepping Down

  • by

Thank you to all those that came along to the AGM last Wednesday. It was a very successful night, with three new faces joining the MACC committee and bringing some youth to the team.

We’d like to formally thank Phil Boyd, Allen Burton and Wayne Harris for their services to MACC over their various stints on the committee.

Allen first joined the committee in 2009-10 as assistant secretary to Rick Barker. This also happened to be Peter Knox’s first season as club President replacing Kevin Ruljancich after a marathon stint at the helm. In his second season, Allen took up the difficult role of Club Treasurer, and has been slowly passing this mantle to Luke Galtieri, who will fill the role in 2019-20.

In 2011-12, Wayne joined the committee as the Veterans representative and has since worked tirelessly to create a fun and competitive environment for former senior players, current senior players and junior parents to play cricket. This is often a thankless task, that requires a great deal of coordination.

Phil is relatively new to cricket and joined the committee as Junior Cricket Manager in season 2017-18. However, that has failed to halt his progress in making some significant changes over the past two years. Phil has worked tirelessly to introduce a child protection policy for the club (located here) and develop the club’s first junior handbook, which will be rolled out in 2019-20.

Again, thank you for your contributions.

Joining the committee in 2019-20 are: (Reg) Will Cooper, Dan Bonnett and Howard Bertus.

Howard will join Dani Hedley in a joint Junior Cricket Manager role in 2019-20. We hope that they will make an excellent combination.

Reg and Dan join the general committee to assist with a range of roles, whilst, as mentioned above, Luke Galtieri will fill the Treasurer role.

We’d also like to thank Reg, Dan and Howard on raising their hand to join the committee this season. If anyone else is interested in helping out in an unofficial role, please visit our volunteering page for more information about how you can get involved.
