T20 Cup Starts Tomorrow Evening

  • by

At 5:30pm tomorrow evening (12/11), MACC’s T20 Cup quest commences at Hartwell Sports Ground (East Oval; 19A Bath Road) vs STC South Camberwell. Make sure you get down for a gander as the guys look to step it up again in 2019/20.

The side has been selected, and looks to be a cracker, with in form veteran Chris Jackson being given an opportunity to show his T20 skills. This will also be the T20 debut for Nathan McNally, Harry Stothard and Will Topham, whilst Nick Adgemis returns to the side after a season honing his golf skills at Box Hill and Brendan Laird will be rewarded for his hard hitting in October. Dan Bonnett, James Guley, Ryan McClure, Roy Taylor and skipper Jack Joslin round out the XI, making it quite a youthful side.

It will be exciting to see how the side performs, particularly given MACC’s improving T20 record of late after a “moneyball” style selection policy was adopted in 2016/17.

The selections aren’t without controversy, with crowd favourites Kiel “The Specialist” Johnsen and the dynamic Trav “Boof” Baker being overlooked for younger talent. This season is unusually long – 5 round-robin style matches will be played between November and January (another sign that the ECA are steadfast in their efforts to compete with the BBL for members and players) – so there is plenty of time for them and others to push into the side.

Round two will be played at home vs fierce rival Hawthorn on Tuesday the 19th of November.

Go Monts!
